In 1995, William founded The Justen Company LLC, a real estate consulting and development company which is very active in the greater Seattle area. Prior to that, he was the Senior Vice President for Seattle developments with the Koll Company where he developed several award winning projects such as City Center Bellevue, Market Place Tower, Zymogenetics at the Lake Union Steam Plant, and the Fred Hutchinson Campus on South Lake Union. From 1978 to 1985, he was Director of Seattle’s Department of Construction and Land Use.
The Justen Company’s largest client for the past ten years has been Samis Land Company, one of the largest commercial landowners in both Seattle and the State of Washington. Over the past several years, The Justen Company managed development projects in this portfolio exceeding $100M. We are also positioning key properties in the vast Samis portfolio for future development.
William is a graduate of the University of Washington and a registered professional engineer in civil and structural engineering. He was an auxiliary faculty member at the University of Washington for twenty years in the College of Architecture and Urban Planning. He is past chairman of Puget Sound Chapter of Lambda Alpha International (the honorary land economics society), on the Board of the Downtown Seattle Association, a member of the Urban Land Institute, the Rotary Club No.4, and the National Eagle Scout Association. In November 2006, William was fourth among Seattle Magazine’s list of Seattle’s twenty-six most influential people of the year.
He is passionate about urban living and his in city homes have been in feature films and Architectural Digest. William has been a resident of downtown Seattle since 1977, currently in home number nine, five of which he developed. He is currently working as the project visionary and lifestyle design director on the new elegant residential tower Fifteen Twenty-One Second Avenue which will be home number ten downtown and William’s career best. William and his partners recently completed the exclusive waterfront Bella Mira Condominium Estates in Issaquah.
